The First

So, I decided to be unoriginal by keeping a blog chronicling my new adventures. I figure it will be a good way to let you all know what I'm up to. Plus, I like to write. (Shocking, isn't it?) In reality, this blog is probably more for me than anyone else - a chance to sort through and reflect on all that is happening.

But here's the job/future update: last week, I went to Boston for an interview. It's a writer position at a fair trade company called Equal Exchange (equalexchange.com). They sell fair trade coffee, tea and chocolate. I think the interview went well, so now I'm just waiting to hear back. I'm trying to be patient, which is difficult when such a big change is looming. I liked Boston and could see myself living there.

In the meantime, I'm doing my best to enjoy these last few days in East Lansing before returning to Kalamazoo next week. It's definitely going to be bittersweet leaving my college town. I have had so many opportunities here that led to immense personal, professional and intellectual growth. It will certainly be sad to leave my friends, my co-workers, and what has truly been my home for the last four years. (Cue the tears.) My friends are starting to branch out around the state, country and world - Molly in Grand Rapids; Luke in Maine; Lindsay in France, to name a few - which forces me to realize and accept that we are, in fact, growing up and moving on.

I know big things are ahead and that's exciting. I don't necessarily know what I'm doing or where I'm going, but the journey is starting. Stay tuned.

Kisses,
Ash
